Transfer news LIVE: Wayne Rooney in line for SHOCK Plymouth job, Bayern eye Grealish EXCLUSIVE, Chelsea manager latest

Callum Hudson-Odoi bidding war

Nottingham Forest are braced for a bidding war for Callum Hudson-Odoi when the transfer window opens next month.

Tottenham lead a three-way chase for the 23-year-old who signed off for the season with three goals in Forest’s final three games.

Ange Postecoglou sees the pacy frontman as a perfect fit for his attack-minded Spurs side but faces competition from at least two other Premier rivals.

Forest want to keep Hudson-Odoi but must complete at least one major sale by the end of June to avoid breaching Profit and Sustainability rules again.

They will have to consider selling one of their golden nuggets, with Morgan Gibbs-White and Brazilian defender Murillo by far their biggest assets.

Both are valued by the club at £70million and would ease Forest’s financial burden at a stroke if someone comes in with a firm bid early in the window.

However Hudson-Odoi’s value has soared to £30million – around TEN TIMES the fee they paid Chelsea to land him last September.

Chelsea held talks with Maresca

Chelsea have held talks with Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca as they step up their search for a new manager.

Maresca is one of three leading candidates for the role, alongside Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna and Brentford’s Thomas Frank.

There is no clear favourite between the trio at this stage – but Maresca was encouraged by the early talks.

The Italian, who moved to the King Power from Manchester City’s coaching staff, has a £10million release clause in his deal.

Chelsea are yet to discuss the fine details of a contract with the 44-year-old, though it is thought he would get a longer deal than Mauricio Pochettino’s contract of two years with an option.

The Blues are keen to have a new manager in place by the end of next week in what will be a third permanent managerial appointment for the club’s American owners after Graham Potter and Pochettino.

How Ten Hag replacements compare

It seems all-but confirmed that under-fire Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will not be part of the club’s future.

Reports earlier today emerged suggesting Ten Hag would be sacked regardless of whether he beats Manchester City to lift the FA Cup on Saturday.

Four names of possible replacements have risen to the top of the agenda and those are Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna, Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel and Brentford’s Thomas Frank.

Below SunSport take a look at how the four managers compare:

Chelsea support candidates

Leicester’s Enzo Maresca, Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna, Brentford’s Thomas Frank and Roberto De Zerbi all have internal support within Chelsea.

Director of recruitment and talent Joe Shields worked with Maresca at Manchester City when the Italian tactician was Pep Guardiola’s assistant manager at a time when Cole Palmer played under him.

McKenna’s stunning progress at Portman Road has been tracked by the Blues for some time.

And the West Londoners’ incoming set-piece specialist Bernardo Cueva worked closely with Frank at the Gtech Community Stadium.

De Zerbi is well known by director of global recruitment Sam Jewell as they worked together at Brighton.

Moises Caicedo also played under the Italian last season at the Amex Stadium whereas Mykhailo Mudryk and the 44-year-old go way back during their time together at Shakhtar Donetsk.

More on De Zerbi

If Chelsea signed Roberto De Zerbi then Brighton could still be due around £5million in compensation, which is much cheaper than the £15m he would have cost if he was still working at the Amex Stadium.

De Zerbi would have to demonstrate that he could work within the Blues’ club structure and cooperate with sporting directors Paul Winstanley as well as Laurence Stewart.

This comes after the Italian tactician expressed frustration in the Brighton model last season while many within football view him as a challenging character.

Nevertheless, there is still no clear favourite to replace Mauricio Pochettino at the helm.

Chelsea’s managerial race

Chelsea have not ruled Roberto De Zerbi out as a potential candidate to replace Mauricio Pochettino in the dugout.

According to The Telegraph, the Blues have narrowed their search down to four candidates.

That also includes Leicester’s Enzo Maresca, Ipswich’s Kieran McKenna and Brentford’s Thomas Frank.

There has been no confirmation whether or not De Zerbi is officially the fourth unnamed coach.

However, the same source claims the Italian tactician has not yet been chalked off from the list.

Nevertheless, the ex-Brighton boss is currently considered to be an “outlier”.
